Frequently Asked Questions

We know genealogy and document retrieval can feel overwhelming, especially when dealing with archives in another country. Here are answers to the most common questions our clients ask.

General Questions

Polish Thread is a professional genealogy service based in Łódź, Poland. We specialize in helping descendants of Polish emigrants worldwide uncover their family history, retrieve official records for Polish citizenship.

Polish Thread was founded by a professional genealogist who started with her own family research, later worked in a genealogy company, and now helps clients worldwide. With experience in Polish archives and historical languages, I handle every case personally.

Online genealogy platforms are great starting points, but they rarely provide access to original Polish records. At Polish Thread, we conduct research directly in Poland’s state and parish archives, request official documents, and interpret records written in Polish, Russian, German, or Latin—something online databases can’t do.
